Zimbabwe has revoked accreditation for four universities in Northern Cyprus
The Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education (ZIMCHE) has announced the revocation of accreditation for seven universities, with four of them located in Northern Cyprus.
According to reports published in the state newspaper The Herald, this includes two universities in India, four educational institutions from Northern Cyprus, and one university in the Republic of Cyprus.
In Northern Cyprus, the affected institutions are Girne American University, Near East University, University of Kyrenia, and European University of Lefke. In the Republic of Cyprus, it pertains to the University of Nicosia.
Diplomas obtained from these institutions will be considered invalid in Zimbabwe as they do not meet quality standards.
In a warning, it is emphasized that parents of students planning to study abroad must verify the accreditation status of foreign universities where their children intend to enroll.
According to information obtained by Kıbrıs Postası, the decision is unrelated to the ongoing scandal in Northern Cyprus involving fake diplomas and the ensuing investigation.
It is speculated that Zimbabwe's decision is due to the fact that the universities under review failed to fulfill their accreditation obligations in the country.
