Description

The Selimiye Mosque in Nicosia was built between 1209 and 1325 as the Roman Catholic Cathedral of Saint Sophia in the style of mature Gothic architecture and periodically, alongside the Saint Nicholas Cathedral in Famagusta, served as the cathedral church of Cyprus and the coronation site of kings.
