As of September 1, 2024, the minimum wage in Northern Cyprus is 40,436 Turkish lira before all taxes are deducted.

The new minimum wage has been raised for the third time this year and was finally agreed upon at the meeting of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission on September 30, 2024, after which it was published in the “Official Gazette.” The increase is just under 20%, and it applies retroactively from September 1.

After all taxes are deducted, the employee must receive a minimum of 35,180 Turkish lira. This is 9,332 TL per week, 1,866 TL per working day, or 233 TL per hour.

How has the minimum wage changed recently?

  • As of January 1, 2023, the minimum wage in Northern Cyprus was 13,563 Turkish lira (before all deductions). After all taxes were deducted, employees received a minimum of 11,800 lira.
  • As of July 1, 2023, the minimum wage in Northern Cyprus was 18,103 Turkish lira before all taxes. After all deductions, employees received a minimum of 15,750 Turkish lira.
  • As of January 1, 2024, the minimum wage in Northern Cyprus, according to the published decision, was 27,587 Turkish lira before all taxes. Employees received a minimum of 24,000 Turkish lira (34,430 Turkish lira for public servants).
  • As of May 1, 2024, the minimum wage in Northern Cyprus was increased for the second time this year to 33,926 Turkish lira gross. After all deductions, the payment was at least 29,520 Turkish lira.
