ELENA XYDIA: “THE CONCERT OF A PARADOXICAL WORLD”

Nicosia2030, candidate city for European Capital of Culture in collaboration with Avantgarde Cultural Organisation presents "The Concert of a Paradoxical World", a concert with two pianos, but with the pianist herself playing on both pianos at the same time. Two pianists, Elena Xydia and... Elena Xydia, will be on the stage of the Nicosia Municipal Theatre at the same time, in an epic battle with her own self, a battle with her whole line. The concert will take place on 23 November 2024 (20:30), as part of the Nicosia International Festival 2024.

"It is a complete performance, a very innovative and special action in which man and idol interact with each other", explains the artist.

The repertoire includes music from both the international and Greek repertoire, which evokes emotions and images in the viewers, as it too "talks" with technology. Elena will be accompanied on the piano by other instruments, which will be played by holographic musicians.

The performance is the result of the collaboration between pianist Elena Xydia and director Paschalis Mantis, whose works leave an artistic innovative imprint. Mantis' holograms represent the third dimension that has been missing from the media of visual communication until now. "The Concert of a Paradoxical World" is an experience that combines music and technology in an impressive way. It is a performance through technology, which is a strategic objective of Nicosia's bid to become European Capital of Culture 2030 and proves that culture and the arts can be renewed.

"The Flying Singer" and the "Piano Project"

Elena Xydia studied classical piano, while she studied at the Department of Economic and Regional Development of Panteion University. Although she worked for some years in the financial sector, she realized that what she wanted to pursue was music, so she decided to work exclusively with it, constantly seeking development through new ideas and innovative actions.

She collaborates with the Acropolis Museum, playing the piano under the sacred rock, which inspired her for the special "Piano Project" with recitals in the most unlikely and inaccessible places of Greece, promoting its natural and cultural heritage. In the valley of Tempe, she literally took off, as the recital took place 50 meters above the river Pinios, an event that immediately went viral, earning Elena the nickname "flying pianist". Indeed, internationally she was called "the flying pianist who makes the impossible... possible".
