February 18: Local Showers, Thunderstorms, and Snow in the Mountains Expected in Cyprus
According to the Meteorology Department of the Republic of Cyprus, moderate low pressure dominates the region on Tuesday, February 18. A cold air mass is expected to arrive on Thursday, bringing stronger northerly winds.
This morning, skies will be partly cloudy, with scattered showers and thunderstorms. The highest peaks of the Troodos Mountains will see wet snow.
Forecasters predict daytime temperatures will reach around 19°C inland and along the coast, while mountain areas will see highs of about 8°C.
By evening, partly cloudy conditions will persist, with isolated showers possible in coastal areas.
Some regions may experience light fog and low cloud cover.
Overnight, temperatures will drop to around 6°C inland, 10°C along the coast, and 2°C in the mountains, where frost may develop in some areas. As of the latest report, snow cover measured 2 cm in the Troodos Square area and 11 cm at Chionistra.
On Wednesday, temperatures will remain steady, staying close to seasonal averages. However, by Friday, a significant drop in temperatures is expected.
