June 20: Cyprus Faces 40-Degree Heatwave
The Cyprus Department of Meteorology reports that Thursday, June 20, will remain under the influence of a weak low-pressure system.
The first half of the day will be mainly clear, with some increased cloudiness expected in the mountains by the evening. Daytime temperatures are forecasted to reach:
- 40°C in inland areas
- 32°C on the western and northern coasts
- 34°C on the southern and eastern coasts
- 29°C in the mountainous regions
By evening, the weather will stay mostly clear. Later, particularly in the early morning hours, local fog and low clouds are expected in the eastern half of the island.
Nighttime temperatures will decrease to:
- 21°C inland and on the northern coast
- 22°C on the other coasts
- 19°C in the mountains
Friday will see no significant change in temperature. However, a gradual decrease, bringing temperatures closer to the average climatic values, is expected by Sunday.
