Broken Glass Causes Major Fire in Paphos
A forest fire that broke out yesterday in the village of Pelathousa in the Paphos district was caused by broken glass, according to Paphos Assistant Police Director Michalis Nikolaou.
In an interview with the Cyprus News Agency (CNA), the police representative noted that the fire started on Thursday afternoon around 1:35 PM.
Broken glass refracted the sunlight, creating sparks that ignited the dry vegetation.
According to fire service representative Andreas Kettis, the fire burned approximately three hectares of land, along with irrigation hoses, trees, and two tin sheds.
It is worth noting that aviation was used to combat the fire.
