Four Cypriot Companies and One Individual Sanctioned by the U.S. for Involvement in Russian-Ukrainian Conflict
Four Cypriot companies and one individual have fallen under the latest package of U.S. sanctions, citing their involvement in Russia's war against Ukraine.
According to the statement from the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), among the 100-plus organizations subject to sanctions, the Nicosia-registered companies Azia Shipping Holdings Limited, Fortiana Holdings Limited, Ibex Shipping Inc, and Stanmix Holding Limited are included.
All the mentioned companies are claimed to be linked to mining and shipping activities and have come under the impact of the recent U.S. sanctions package targeting those engaged in evading sanctions and supporting energy production in Russia.
According to cyprus-mail, Fortiana and Stanmix are associated with Vladislav Sviblov, a Russian businessman, developer, and major shareholder in several mining assets in Russia. He has also faced sanctions from the United Kingdom.
The sanctions also extend to Ilya Brodsky, a Russian citizen holding a Cypriot passport, connected with the Open Joint Stock Company "Sovcombank," which was added to the U.S. sanctions list last year.
