Two people arrested for smuggling meat from the southern part of Cyprus to the north
Two individuals arrested for smuggling meat and auto parts from the Republic of Cyprus to the northern part of the island. They illegally transported 264 kilograms of beef across the border.
According to the police press service, the two smugglers were apprehended yesterday around 21:30 on Mimar Mehmet Vahip Street in Hamitköy as a result of an operation conducted by the Nicosia Police Department.
In the men's car, aged 42 and 44, 264 kg of beef, brought into the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) from the Republic of Cyprus without duties, were found. In addition to the meat, various car parts were also discovered, also smuggled. All the illegal goods were seized as material evidence.
The suspects have been arrested, and the investigation into the case is ongoing.
