Two Girls Sentenced to 11 Years in Prison for Bringing 41 kg of Marijuana to Cyprus
The Permanent Criminal Court of Larnaca has sentenced two young women to 11 years in prison for importing 41 kilograms of marijuana from Bangkok to Cyprus.
The defendants, aged 20 and 22, were found guilty of drug importation and possession.
According to court documents, the two arrived at Larnaca Airport on June 19, traveling from Bangkok via the United Arab Emirates. During a customs inspection, officials discovered 70 vacuum-sealed packages containing green, dry plant material (cannabis) in four bags, totaling 41 kilograms and 96 grams.
The drugs were seized, and the passengers were arrested. The case was investigated by the Narcotics Control Unit (YCAN) in the Larnaca province.
Recently, the Criminal Court sentenced each of the women to 11 years of imprisonment for each charge, with the sentences to be served concurrently.
