The European Union Police Service (Europol) has launched a new campaign as part of its ongoing investigation into Europe's most wanted fugitives. Three of them are wanted for crimes committed in Cyprus.

According to cyprus-mail, the new campaign calls on the public to "become Europol's next hero" by providing authorities with any information or tips regarding wanted criminals.

- Superheroes aren't just for comic books, and you don't need superhuman powers to become a hero, you just need to keep your eyes open.
One tip can make all the difference in the fight against crime. One tip could help catch a dangerous fugitive and save potential victims, he said in a written statement.

Thus, two men, Sali Ahmet and Mehmet Akpinar, are wanted for the premeditated murder of British citizen George Lowe, committed in Ayia Napa in August 2016. Both suspects arrived in Cyprus from the north. After an argument that left the man fatally wounded, they fled back north where they were convicted of entering the country illegally.

In addition, the same two suspects are wanted for the attempted murder of a second Briton, Ben Barker, who was stabbed multiple times. Since 2016, the search for suspects has been ongoing at the national and international level.
Also wanted is Alex Burelli, who is suspected of killing three people in Ayia Napa.

It is reported that the crime was also committed in 2016. The wanted man and his accomplice entered the restaurant in balaclavas and shot three people with pistols and automatic weapons: a businessman, a policeman and his wife in the presence of two minor children. In addition, a second police officer and another witness to the crime were injured.

Alex Burelli's accomplice was killed in the shootout, and he himself managed to escape from the scene in a car, which was later found burning.
European police say Alex Bourelly had previously conspired to carry out other murders in Cyprus as part of the same gang that carried out the killing of a policeman's family in Ayia Napa.
