Fans Cause Chaos in Limassol: Police Officer Injured
Last night, a clash broke out between fans and the police in Limassol, leaving one police officer injured.
According to local reports, the incident occurred during a second-division handball match between Apollon and Omonia 29. Around 300 Apollon supporters were present at the stadium, while there were no fans from the opposing team.
At approximately 9:25 PM, police were alerted that about 100 Omonia 29 fans, with their faces hidden by hoods and carrying baseball bats, had gathered near the indoor arena where the match was taking place. They attempted to force their way inside.
Police swiftly arrived at the scene and used tear gas to disperse the crowd. During the altercation, one officer suffered a minor leg injury.
