GPS tracker helped uncover theft of construction materials
Limassol police reported today, August 22, 2025, the arrest of a 45-year-old man suspected of a series of thefts of construction materials. The incident involved the theft of building materials worth about €2,850 from a building under renovation in the Kato Polemidia area. It turned out that one of the stolen boxes contained a GPS tracker, previously installed by the property owner in case of possible theft.
Thanks to this tracker, it was possible to trace the location of the stolen materials: the signal led police to a specific address in Limassol, where a significant quantity of building materials matching the reported losses was found. A man was present at the scene and was detained by law enforcement officers. He was unable to explain the origin of the materials, and an investigation into the incident is currently underway.
