Due to the high season in Cyprus, the installation of air conditioners in schools is being postponed
The installation of air conditioners in schools across Cyprus are being delayed. This delay is attributed to the high tourist season and the increased demand for cooling systems.
According to local media reports, the plan was to install 450 air conditioners in 20 schools by August 10. However, the contracting company has requested an extension due to the high season, and school boards have granted an extension until the end of August. As a result, the installation of air conditioners in schools is currently delayed by 19 days.
“We are awaiting the conclusion of the tender process, which will be on June 27. It will show which companies have expressed interest, and based on that, these air conditioners will be installed by August 29. So, by August 29, we will have air conditioners in 20 schools,” said Dinos Hellinas, president of the school boards, on the “Alpha Kalimera” show.
It is also noted that work in this direction started back in January but has been delayed due to the need to comply with competitive procedures.
Recall that the installation of containers in Cyprus schools was announced at the end of May. In recent weeks, the country has experienced abnormally hot weather.
