Greek Air Traffic Controllers’ Strike Causes Flight Cancellations to Cyprus
Greek airlines AEGEAN and Olympic Air have announced the cancellation of all domestic and international flights scheduled for April 9 due to a 24-hour nationwide strike organized by the Greek Air Traffic Controllers Association (EEEKE).
In a statement, the airlines confirmed that all flights will be canceled from 00:00 to 23:59 local time on April 9. This includes several flights to Cyprus. However, some flights, listed in a special notice, will proceed with adjustments to their schedules.
SKY Express has also informed passengers of the cancellation of both domestic and international flights, except for those listed in their updated flight schedule.
For more information on affected flights, travelers can check the schedules posted by the airports in Cyprus—Larnaca and Paphos (Hermes Airports). Ryanair has also confirmed the cancellation of flights between Paphos and Thessaloniki, as well as between Thessaloniki and Paphos.
The strike, taking place on April 9, is being led by Greece’s largest trade unions, who are demanding higher wages, collective labor agreements, and government measures to address the rising cost of living and the housing crisis.
