Cabinet approved employment support programs for 2,110 people with a budget of €18 million

The Council of Ministers on Wednesday approved four targeted plans to stimulate the hiring of citizens outside the production process. The programs will cover 2,110 people with a total budget of €18 million, said Minister of Labour and Social Insurance Yiannis Panayiotou.

According to the minister, the unemployment rate has fallen below 5%, and the employment rate has exceeded 80% — the best figure in history and in line with the European 2030 target. The approved measures aim to consolidate conditions of full employment and focus on specific vulnerable groups.

The programs are aimed at: women of all ages; people aged 50–65; young people aged 15–29; as well as the employment of women under flexible working conditions. Funding will be co-financed through the cohesion policy program “Thalia 2021–2027”.

Details, including participation rules and application deadlines, will be published the same day by the Department of Labour. Applications will be accepted electronically through the new digital platform. For residents, this means expanded hiring incentives for employers and the need to monitor Labour Department announcements for submission of documents.
