Cyprus dropped four places in the World Happiness Report
Cyprus has dropped four positions in the annual World Happiness Report. In the updated 2024 ranking, the country ranked 50th.
The annual report includes data from 143 countries around the world. The Republic of Cyprus has been declining in the ranking for the second consecutive year. Two years ago, the country ranked 41st.
The report this year focused mainly on age demographics. In particular, among the happiest people on the planet under the age of 30, Cypriots ranked only 51st. In the older age category over 60, residents of Cyprus ranked 57th.
The youth turned out to be the happiest category of citizens in Cyprus. And the most unhappy age group turned out to be the elderly.
At the same time, Cyprus ranked higher than Greece and Turkey, which ranked 64th and 98th respectively.
It is also noted that Cyprus ranks 109th in the report on changes in the level of happiness from 2010 to 2023.
Finland has been the happiest country in the world for the fourth consecutive year, followed by Denmark, Iceland, and Sweden.
Afghanistan became the least happy country on Earth. The last five in the ranking also include Lebanon, Lesotho, Sierra Leone, and the Congo.
