Cypriots Head to the Mountains as Troodos Gets a White Christmas
On Christmas Day, the Troodos Mountains were blanketed in snow, transforming the region into a winter wonderland. Taking full advantage of the festive season, many Cypriots made their way to the mountains to enjoy the snowy scenery.
According to police reports, roads leading to Troodos—Platres–Troodos, Karvounas–Troodos, and Prodromos–Troodos—are currently accessible only to vehicles equipped with snow chains or four-wheel drive.
Additionally, roads such as Kykko–Pedoulas and Kampos–Orkonda remain open but are at risk of landslides involving rocks and soil. Drivers are urged to exercise caution.

It's important to note that Cyclone Elena continues to affect Cyprus. Heavy rainfall earlier in the week forced the closure of all roads leading to Troodos, regardless of vehicle type or equipment.
