Cypriot Police Officer Injured in Clash with Poachers
A police officer was injured during a confrontation with poachers on Cyprus. The driver of the vehicle involved has already been arrested.
According to the police, the incident occurred yesterday afternoon, around 1:30 PM, in Nicosia. A patrol unit from the Tira Service spotted a vehicle driving in the Ergato area, where the passenger was reportedly firing shots while the car was in motion.
When the police attempted to stop the vehicle for a routine check, the driver accelerated and tried to flee. In the process, the vehicle collided with the patrol car before the driver fled the scene.
As a result of the incident, a light injury was sustained by a hunting reserve officer, who was taken to the hospital for first aid.
Following an investigation, the driver was identified, located, and brought to the police station, where formal charges were filed against him.
