The Number of Overnight Stays in Cyprus Increased by 5.5%
According to Eurostat, the European Statistical Agency, Cyprus experienced a 5.5% increase in overnight stays in 2024. The Republic of Cyprus ranked among the EU countries with the highest growth in short-term rentals compared to the previous year.
Between January and October 2024, the largest number of overnight stays was recorded in July, reaching an impressive 2,603,465. However, despite this growth, the numbers are still below pre-pandemic levels, highlighting that a full recovery in the tourism sector remains elusive, both in Cyprus and across the European Union.
Luxembourg (21%), Malta (12%), and Latvia (6%) led the way in the growth of short-term bookings last year.
It’s worth noting that earlier this year, Cyprus achieved a historic milestone in tourism. For the first time, the number of visitors exceeded four million, surpassing the previous record set in 2019.
