Mosquito Control Team Deployed in Paphos
A mosquito control team was dispatched on Friday to the municipality of Geroskipou in Paphos, following complaints from local residents about a growing mosquito problem.
“Municipal teams are inspecting public areas for stagnant water, which is a prime breeding ground for mosquitoes,” said Marios Nikitas, the municipality’s health officer.
The affected areas were treated with insecticides to help prevent further spread. Key hotspots include stagnant water found in rivers, ponds, and abandoned swimming pools.
“We urge residents to make sure they don’t leave standing water in places like fountains, wells, old tires, buckets, basins, flower pots, and saucers,” the official added.
The municipality’s sanitation department has assured the public that the mosquito situation is under control.
