A major forest fire near Paphos has been extinguished
In Cyprus, firefighting services managed to control the fire in rural areas between the villages of Ayios Ioannis and Salamiou near Paphos. It took about five hours to extinguish the forest fire.
According to the representative of the firefighting service, Andreas Kettis, combating the fire was complicated by challenging weather conditions.
Recall that the fire between the villages of Ayios Ioannis and Salamiou in the Paphos area started yesterday around midday. The flames covered approximately a hectare of land. Low vegetation was burning at the border of the jurisdiction of the Fire Department and the Forestry Department.
Fire brigades were deployed to the scene of the incident.
Four firefighting vehicles were involved in extinguishing the fire, two of which were from the Forestry Department. Later, firefighting groups were reinforced with additional resources. After five hours, the flames were successfully extinguished.
Currently, authorities are investigating the cause of the ignition.
