Davis Cup Match Between Israel and Ukraine to be Held Behind Closed Doors in Cyprus
The upcoming Davis Cup tennis matches between Israel and Ukraine will take place at the Herodotou Tennis Academy in Larnaca, Cyprus.
Although Israel was initially set to host the matches, the ongoing armed conflict in the region has made it impossible for the Israeli team to play at home.
In light of this situation, three months ago, a delegation from the Israel Tennis Federation visited Cyprus to inspect the facilities.
A preliminary agreement had already been reached between the Cyprus Tennis Federation and the Republic's government to hold the matches on the island.
The matches are scheduled for Friday and Saturday and will be played behind closed doors. Approximately 100 personalized spectator passes will be issued to members of both delegations, and the general public will not be permitted entry.
The Cyprus News Agency reported that this decision was made "for security reasons."
The matches will be broadcast live in Israel. An Israeli television crew has arrived on the island specifically for this purpose.
