In Cyprus, 7 out of 10 suspects in the attempted murder in Nicosia have been arrested
In the Republic of Cyprus, seven suspects have been arrested in connection with the attempted murder that took place in Nicosia last week. Three more individuals involved in the case have been released.
Recall that the high-profile crime occurred last Tuesday on the Antipoli - Palechori road in the Lakatamia area. At the time of the attack, the injured man was riding a motorcycle after visiting the central prisons. The assailant, who was also riding a motorcycle, fired three shots at the biker.
According to preliminary information, one of the three shots hit the victim in the neck. The wounded man was taken to the emergency department of Nicosia General Hospital in critical condition.
It was reported that the victim of the attack is "well-known to the authorities and the police."
Over the weekend, police detained 10 individuals suspected of attempting to murder a 34-year-old man. The search for another alleged perpetrator continues.
On Sunday, the Nicosia District Court ordered the arrest of seven out of ten detainees, while the remaining three were released due to lack of evidence against them.
Police believe that the organizers and perpetrators of the crime were tracking their victim. The motorcycle driver, from which the shots were fired, waited for the victim to pass by before shooting at him.
It is known that before the attempted murder, the 34-year-old man was released from the Lakatamia police station, where he visited a person accused of arson.
