Over 12,000 People Want to Become Bone Marrow Donors in Cyprus
In the Republic of Cyprus, last year, more than 12,000 people registered to become bone marrow donors.
According to the non-profit organization established to create a registry of voluntary bone marrow donors, the Karaiskakio Foundation, in 2023, their archives recorded 12,439 new donors.
In total, last year, 59 transplants were conducted in 16 countries, including Cyprus, Italy, the USA, Germany, Greece, Romania, France, England, Poland, Bulgaria, Iran, Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, Spain, and Russia.
The Karaiskakio Foundation's bone marrow donor registry is internationally recognized and is the world's largest registry per capita.
