Cyprus Man Scammed Out of Over 33,000 Euros in Cryptocurrency Fraud
A 57-year-old man in Cyprus has fallen victim to a cryptocurrency scam, losing more than 33,000 euros to online fraudsters.
The man reported the incident to the Cyber Crime Division, stating that in July last year, he discovered a website advertising cryptocurrency investment programs that promised high returns.
Believing the site's claims, he registered and followed the instructions of a so-called "manager," ultimately investing about 33,496 euros (37,274 USD) in cryptocurrency.
It wasn't until later that he realized the website was fake and that he had been defrauded.
The Cyber Crime Division is currently investigating the scam.
Following this incident, the police are urging the public to exercise caution when making any online transactions or investments.
