Young Man Caught Attempting to Steal an ATM in Cyprus
A young man in Cyprus has been arrested after he tried to steal an ATM. The theft attempt was foiled thanks to the machine’s alarm system.
According to a police press release, the incident took place during the night. Around 2 a.m., an alarm was triggered on an ATM located along the Larnaca–Dhekelia road. Officers quickly responded and found a 22-year-old man attempting to cut open the ATM with a power tool (an angle grinder).
The man was arrested at the scene before he could complete the theft. He now faces charges of attempted robbery and possession of burglary tools. He has been taken into custody, and the investigation is ongoing at the Oroklini Police Station.
