Vehicle registration renewal has commenced in Cyprus
Vehicle Registration Renewal has commenced in Cyprus on January 4th. The final day for renewing the registration certificate is Sunday, March 10, 2024.
Every vehicle owner must carry the renewed registration certificate.
The renewal can be done at commercial banks, citizen service centers, district branches of the Postal Services Department, as well as at regional branches of the Department of Road Transport.
It is necessary to have a valid safety compliance certificate with you.
Registration certificates can be renewed for three, six, nine, or twelve months.
Starting from March 11, 2024, a fee will be charged for any vehicles found without a renewed permit. A fee of 10 euros (the registration cost of the vehicle + 10 euros) and an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the registration certificate corresponding to the amount due for the current year will be imposed on the registration certificate.
From March 11, 2024, the traffic police will begin to fine car owners who have not paid the road tax on time. The fine amount is 150 euros.
It is also worth noting that the road tax is calculated based on pollutants and the age of the vehicle. Electric vehicles are exempt from this fee.
