A new storm warning has been issued in Cyprus
The Meteorological Bureau of the Republic of Cyprus has issued a new "yellow" weather warning. From 11:00 on Thursday until 19:00 on Friday, the country is once again expected to experience severe storms, strong winds, and thunderstorms with hail.
According to meteorologists, on Thursday evening, an intensification of thunderstorms is expected in coastal areas of Cyprus, and early Friday morning they should spread inland. Rainfall is expected at a rate of 35 to 55 millimeters per hour.
It is worth reminding that the new warning was issued just a day after severe weather and tornadoes caused serious damage in Limassol. Mayor Germasoyia Kyriakos Xydias stated that twenty roads were closed during the storm, more than fifty buildings were damaged, five houses became uninhabitable, and one person was injured by flying glass fragments.
Before the storm, the Meteorological Bureau predicted rain and thunderstorms across the island, and snow fell in the Troodos mountain range.
