The Embassy of Hungary in Cyprus has reopened. The opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, Péter Szijjártó, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus, Konstantinos Kornos.

Speaking at the opening of his country's embassy in Cyprus, the Hungarian diplomat emphasized that the relations between Cyprus and Hungary are a "success story."

Péter Szijjártó also noted that the relations between the two countries have always been based on respect, and any disagreements that arise are always resolved through constructive dialogue.

The Hungarian Foreign Minister reminded that the volume of trade between the two countries exceeds 100 million euros, and after Brexit, the number of Hungarians living in the Republic of Cyprus has reached four thousand people.

Konstantinos Kornos, in turn, pointed out the good relations between the two countries and highly appreciated the Hungarian contingent serving in the UN peacekeeping forces (UNFICYP).

It should be noted that the Embassy of Hungary in Cyprus was closed since September 15, 2014.

Recall that the Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade of Hungary, Péter Szijjártó, arrived in Cyprus the day before. He flew in for the embassy opening at the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus, Konstantinos Kornos.
