Cyprus Expects Record Tourism Income

Minister of Tourism Costas Koumis made several important announcements during his visit to parliament. Thus, according to the minister, tourism revenues are expected to reach pre-pandemic levels in 2023. The tourism sector of the Republic of Cyprus earned the most - 2.71 billion euros - in 2018. This year, according to the forecasts of the head of the Ministry of Tourism, revenue may exceed 3 billion euros. The minister identified seasonality as the main problem in the tourism sector, since most visitors associate Cyprus only with beach holidays, which makes the autumn and winter months of the year low-profit. Mr. Kumis sees his task as extending the tourist season in the country by at least two weeks in March and two in November. To this end, the state is implementing a number of programs for the development of winemaking and agricultural farms.
