Attempted Prison Break Prevented in Cyprus
The Republic of Cyprus police have thwarted an escape attempt by inmates from the central prison. Three individuals have been arrested.
According to the police press service, the incident occurred over the past weekend, but it has only now come to light.
The three detainees, two aged 22 and one aged 24, attempted to escape custody by digging a tunnel near a window.
The escape attempt was noticed in time by prison guards. As a result, the escape was prevented, and all three young men were taken back into custody.
The police are investigating the escape attempt, and the investigation is ongoing.
