According to emergency services, the fire started on Monday afternoon at approximately 4:00 PM. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene immediately to contain the blaze.

The presence of medical waste inside the facility made the situation more difficult to manage. Thick black smoke billowed into the sky and was visible across Nicosia, prompting authorities to cordon off the area for safety reasons.

The fire was eventually brought under control. However, it caused extensive damage to the factory, its equipment, and six vehicles, including three commercial trucks and three lifting machines that were inside the facility.

Fortunately, no workers were present at the time of the incident, as employees had left for the day earlier in the afternoon.

Preliminary reports suggest the fire may have been caused by an electrical short circuit, though the exact cause will be confirmed following a detailed investigation set to take place today.

This is the fourth fire at the factory in two years, raising concerns about safety measures at the facility.
