Cyprus Investigates Mysterious Death of Elderly British Woman in TRNC
The police of the Republic of Cyprus are investigating the mysterious death of a British citizen. Her body was brought to the country from the TRNC.
According to Alphanews, the 74-year-old British citizen spent the last few days of her life in the northern part of the island. According to the death certificate issued by the hospital at one of the universities in the TRNC, the woman passed away on April 17. The cause of death was stated as sepsis, multiple organ failure, and paraplegia (joint paralysis of both upper or lower limbs, predominantly due to spinal cord injury).
Yesterday, the body of the deceased British woman was transported to the Republic of Cyprus. During the autopsy, it was found that the deceased had a spinal fracture at the neck level, a massive liver hematoma, and extensive head trauma from a blow. Doctors also suspect that the woman underwent spinal surgery.
Cypriot doctors have taken samples for laboratory testing, and the police have been informed about the results of the autopsy.
Police representative Christos Andreou confirmed the start of an investigation into the foreigner's death.
The incident will be reported to the bicommunal committee, which will also try to determine the cause of death of the 74-year-old British citizen.
