Increase in Tourists from the UAE in Cyprus
The Republic of Cyprus is experiencing a rise in the number of tourists arriving from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) this year. The Ministry of Tourism sees potential in the Middle Eastern and Asian markets.
This was stated by the Minister of Tourism of the Republic of Cyprus, Costas Kumi, after the conclusion of meetings at the Arabian Travel Market exhibition in Dubai and the AIM Congress in Abu Dhabi. According to the minister, during these events, Cyprus representatives explored the possibility of new advertising campaigns, which are "now firmly on the path to implementation."
"Last year, the number of arrivals from the UAE increased by 14 percent, and we are pleased to see the possibility of significant growth this year. The countries of the Middle East and Asia undoubtedly deserve more attention," the minister said.
In a statement published by the Ministry of Tourism, it is noted that Costas Kumi led the delegation at the 2024 Arabian Travel Market exhibition in Dubai accompanied by industry partners.
During the exhibition, meetings were held with tour operators and airlines to increase tourist flows from the UAE and Middle Eastern countries, as well as to improve air connections to Cyprus on existing and new routes.
Meetings were also held with top managers of various airlines, including Jazeera, Gulf Air, and Air India.
The minister then participated in the 13th Annual Investment Meeting (AIM Congress 2024) in Abu Dhabi.
The congress focused on adapting to the changing investment landscape and harnessing the potential of global economic development.
During the AIM Congress 2024, the Cypriot delegation held meetings and established networking contacts with leading figures in the tourism and investment sectors.
The main focus was on the prospects for the coming years, starting from 2025.
