Nicosia-Limassol Highway to Be Partially Closed for Nighttime Roadworks
On Thursday, February 6, nighttime roadworks will take place on the Nicosia-Limassol highway and the Limassol bypass road. Authorities urge drivers to exercise caution.
According to the Department of Road Transport, maintenance work on the Nicosia-Limassol highway will be carried out between Kalavasos and Moni, heading toward Limassol. The work will begin at 8:30 PM and is expected to be completed by 6:00 AM on February 7.
During this time, the right lane in the Limassol-bound direction will be partially closed, and traffic will be directed to the left lane. The maintenance work includes cleaning the highway’s central median.
Additionally, ongoing construction will continue on the Limassol bypass road between the New Hospital interchange and the Mouttagiaka interchange, affecting both directions.
This project, which began on January 9, 2025, is set to conclude on February 27. Work is carried out Monday through Thursday from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM. During these hours, a single lane closure of approximately 200 meters will be in effect, with traffic redirected to the adjacent lane. The Public Works Department has stated that these works focus on clearing stormwater drainage grates.
Meanwhile, the Limassol-Nicosia highway near the Kalavasos bridge remains closed toward Nicosia since January 30 due to bridge repair and upgrade works.
Northbound traffic from Limassol to Nicosia is currently being routed onto the Limassol highway, which is temporarily operating as a two-way road.
