Cyprus Lifts Final COVID-19 Restrictions
The government of the Republic of Cyprus lifted the last remaining COVID-19 restrictions on Thursday, August 29.
Health Minister Michael Damianou announced the decision following a Cabinet meeting.
Under the new guidelines, mask-wearing is no longer required in hospitals and nursing homes, which had previously been mandated.
Additionally, the government has removed the regulations that set maximum prices for PCR tests, rapid antibody tests, and self-testing kits.
It’s worth noting that in March, the government lifted the requirement for a negative COVID-19 test before entering hospitals and nursing homes. This rule had been in effect since January and applied to all staff and visitors over the age of 12.
Earlier in the summer, Cyprus experienced a surge in COVID-19 cases, but the infection rate soon began to decline.
