Income and Living Conditions Survey Kicks Off in Cyprus
The Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat) has launched its 2025 Household Income and Living Conditions Survey. Conducted annually since 2005, this survey aligns with EU regulations and aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of living standards in Cyprus.
According to Cystat, data collection will take place between January and September 2025. Trained enumerators, carrying official identification, will visit 5,000 households across both urban and rural areas of the island.
The survey's main goal is to gather information on household living conditions and income levels to assess social and economic conditions on both a European and national scale.
The data collected will be used to calculate key indicators such as the "poverty risk threshold," "income classifications," "risk of poverty or social exclusion," and "severe material and social deprivation."
This survey is conducted under the Official Statistics Law of 2021 (Law No. 25(I)/2021), which legally obliges individuals to provide accurate information for statistical purposes.
To ensure transparency, Cystat has introduced a verification tool on its website. Households can use this tool to confirm the legitimacy of any phone calls related to the survey.
“Individuals who refuse to provide information, fail to meet deadlines, or knowingly supply false, incomplete, or inaccurate data may face legal consequences,” Cystat emphasized in its announcement.
Cystat also reassured participants that all data collected will remain strictly confidential and will be used solely for statistical analysis, with robust safeguards in place to protect personal information.
