Court in Cyprus Releases Dog Owner Found with Dog in Trash Bin
A court in Cyprus has released a 30-year-old dog owner without charges after he was arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty. His dog was discovered in a trash bin in Peyia.
On Saturday, the Paphos District Court ordered the dog owner to be held for one day following his arrest by animal protection police on Friday evening. The arrest came after a woman found the dog in a horrific condition inside a trash bin, with its neck twisted and bound in a bag.
Police spokesperson Nicoletta Tirimou told the Cyprus News Agency that the dog is receiving treatment at a veterinary clinic, with its condition described as critical.
As part of the ongoing investigation, a warrant was issued for the dog owner's arrest, and he was detained for one day.
His detention ended at 1:00 PM on Sunday, and he was released without being charged. However, the investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
