Three individuals have been arrested in the Republic of Cyprus for allegedly stealing sheep worth €15,000 from the British military base in Dhekelia. All suspects are currently in custody.

According to a statement from the police press office, the theft occurred on May 10 in the village of Xylofagou. The suspects are now facing a total of 13 charges related to the theft of sheep and other livestock. Authorities suspect the trio may also be linked to similar incidents in other areas of the island.

Dinos Petrou, Assistant Chief of Police for the British bases, acknowledged that livestock theft remains a persistent issue in rural communities. However, he noted that enhanced surveillance measures have helped reduce such crimes in recent years.
