Sewage Floods Geroskipou Seafront Again
The Geroskipou seafront has once again been flooded with wastewater, raising serious public health concerns.
The municipality is protesting against the recurring overflow of sewage from manholes on Germaninas Street, located in the coastal area of Geroskipou.
In a letter addressed to Theodoulos Mesimeris, Director of the Department of Environment, Mayor Nikos Palios expressed his frustration, noting that despite repeated written and verbal complaints to the Paphos Sewerage Board, the problem continues.
The manholes near Geroskipou’s municipal beach are overflowing, spilling large amounts of sewage onto the ground, which then makes its way into the sea.
Mayor Palios called for immediate intervention from the Department of Environment. He emphasized that the leaks and accumulation of sewage have created an unbearable stench in the area and pose a serious health risk. The pollution directly impacts public spaces, beachgoers, and vendors operating kiosks along the coast.
Laboratory tests conducted by accredited facilities have confirmed significant contamination of the soil, groundwater, and seawater.
