Don't forget to change your clocks: this weekend, the Republic of Cyprus will switch to daylight saving time
On the night of Sunday, March 31, the Republic of Cyprus will switch to daylight saving time. Clocks will need to be set forward by 1 hour.
The transition to daylight saving time will occur at 03:00 on Sunday, March 31. Clocks will be set forward to 04:00 in the morning.
The purpose of daylight saving time transitions is to better utilize daylight for energy conservation.
Today, the portion of the planet's population using daylight saving time constitutes a minority, as almost all countries in Asia and Africa do not participate in summer time changes.
Many countries have either already abolished the transition or plan to do so.
The European Union decided to end the time change in 2021, giving each member state the option to independently choose whether to maintain daylight saving time or standard time.
In Cyprus, the corresponding consultation was postponed indefinitely, as it coincided with the health crisis caused by the coronavirus.
