The New Year in Cyprus Starts with Clear Skies and Frosty Mornings in the Mountains: January 2 Weather Update
The Meteorological Department of the Republic of Cyprus reports that high-pressure systems are currently influencing the region on Thursday, January 2.
The morning will bring mostly clear skies, although some areas might see patches of increased cloudiness. According to the forecast, daytime temperatures are expected to reach approximately 18°C inland, 19°C along the coast, and 9°C in the mountains, where early-morning frost will linger in some locations.
By the evening, the weather will remain largely clear, with occasional patches of cloud cover in certain areas.
Nighttime temperatures will drop to around 5°C inland, 7°C along the coast, and -1°C in the mountainous regions. Frost is expected to form in both mountainous and semi-mountainous areas. As of the latest update, snow cover in the mountains has reached 2 cm, with the highest peaks of the Troodos range blanketed in up to 22 cm of snow.
Looking ahead to Friday, the weather will remain mostly clear, though some areas may still experience increased cloudiness. No significant changes in temperature are expected in the coming days.
