Cyprus Flag Bearers Announced for Paris Olympics
Athletes Milan Trajković and Elena Kulichenko will proudly bear Cyprus' flag at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris. In total, 15 Cypriot athletes will participate in the Olympics: 9 women and 6 men competing across eight disciplines.
The Cyprus Olympic Committee (COC) highlighted that this marks the first time a Cypriot athlete will compete in fencing. Additionally, after a two-decade hiatus, Cyprus will also return to judo.
Yiotis Ioannides, Deputy Chairman of COC, expressed confidence that Cyprus is sending athletes who "have high chances of winning medals."
The Cyprus team will depart for Paris on Thursday. The 2024 Olympic Games are scheduled from July 26 to August 11.
