The United Nations has allowed repairs to a house in the buffer zone for the first time

The United Nations has granted permission for the first time to repair a house in the buffer zone in Cyprus.

Under the issued permit, the roof of the house will be repaired, and erosion occurring in the concrete over time will be addressed.

According to the Filelefthero newspaper, a Greek named Fotis Fotiu from Karpasia applied to the UN to repair his house in the buffer zone. This request was accepted on the condition that the house would not be fully restored.

It is expected that under the issued permit, the roof of the building will be repaired, and measures will be taken to combat concrete erosion over time.

It is reported that in May of last year, Fotis Fotiu sent a letter to the presidency requesting financial assistance. The publication notes that the Ministry of Interior Affairs responded that no additional assistance could be provided since support had already been provided under immigration policy.

According to the applicant, there is no connection between the support he previously received and the assistance he is currently requesting, and he intends to reapply to the UN in the future for full restoration of the house.
