Nissi Beach in Ayia Napa Takes First Place in the European Beach Index
Nissi Beach in Ayia Napa has claimed the top spot in the 2024 European beach index. The ranking evaluates popular bathing spots across Europe based on criteria such as sea and air temperatures, and suitability for families with young children.
Also considered were traveler reviews of nearby five-star hotels, beachside accessibility, and prices.
Based on these factors, Nissi Beach, renowned for its turquoise waters, golden sands, and awarded Blue Flag for cleanliness, secured the first position in the ranking.
Second in the index is Mellieha Bay in Malta, followed by Portoroz Beach in Slovenia, which completes the top three best European bathing spots. Portoroz Beach attracts tourists with its comfortable sea temperatures and relatively affordable prices. Its low waves make it one of the safest places for families with young children to relax.
Earlier in June, Cyprus hosted the 2024 Blue Flag awards ceremony, where 76 beaches (including Nissi Beach) and two marinas, Limassol Marina and Ayia Napa Marina, received international recognition for quality.
