Ten Suspects Detained in Attempted Murder Case of Motorcyclist in Nicosia
Cyprus Police have arrested another suspect who may be involved in the attempted murder case in central Nicosia on April 23rd. In total, 10 individuals will appear before the court.
According to the "Cyprus Mail" newspaper, in addition to the nine individuals already in custody, a tenth suspect was arrested on Wednesday. They have been brought to court and remanded in custody.
Police reports indicate that the new suspect is a Syrian citizen. It is also noted that another suspect in the high-profile case is still at large and being sought by authorities.
Recall that the attempted murder of Demetris Andronicou, also known as Demetris, occurred on the Antipoli - Palechori road, near Lakatamia, on the afternoon of April 23rd. At the time of the attack, the victim was riding a motorcycle after visiting central prisons. The assailant, who was also riding a motorcycle, fired three shots at the motorcyclist.
The victim sustained a neck injury and remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
Police have also stated that the attack victim is "well known to law enforcement authorities."
