Teenager from Nicosia Arrested for Vandalism in Paphos City Center
A 17-year-old from Nicosia has been arrested by Paphos police on suspicion of vandalizing public property in the city center. The teenager reportedly used spray paint to deface structures at Kennedy Square. A second suspect is still being sought by authorities.
According to a statement from the police press office, the incident took place over the past weekend and led to strong condemnation from the Mayor of Paphos. The mayor stated that approximately 50 individuals, believed to be supporters of a local football club, caused significant damage to the city's infrastructure by spraying paint on walls and other public property.
Despite a prohibition on activating surveillance cameras by the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection, the mayor assured that the municipality is committed to protecting public property through other means.
The 17-year-old suspect has been arrested, while a 52-year-old man remains at large. An arrest warrant has been issued for him.
