Search for Missing Migrant off the Coast of Cyprus Concluded
Authorities in the Republic of Cyprus have halted the search for a migrant who went missing at sea after jumping from a ship en route to Cyprus. Search and rescue operations were terminated two days after the man's disappearance.
In a statement from the Unified Search and Rescue Coordination Center, it was announced that search operations for the missing migrant were concluded on Tuesday at 8 a.m.
Recalling the events, last Sunday, three vessels arrived in Cyprus, carrying a total of 190 migrants. Approximately two nautical miles from the shore, one of them jumped into the sea and disappeared.
The operation involved a helicopter, a drone, as well as boats from the National Guard, a second Air Force helicopter, and police boats. Unfortunately, the search efforts did not yield success.
