Police at British bases investigate fatal accident in Limassol: 42-year-old Cypriot killed

Another fatal road accident occurred in the Republic of Cyprus. The causes of the accident are being investigated by the British base police.

The tragedy occurred yesterday afternoon at 14:05 on the main road from Kolossi to Akrotiri, near the Agios Nikolaos ton Gaton monastery and the British military base.

As a result of the collision of two cars, 42-year-old Greek-Cypriot Christos Grigoriou was killed. The man died in front of his 18-year-old son: at the time of the accident, they were driving towards their home in Akrotiri in Limassol.

In the other car were a British citizen and his 5-year-old daughter.

Due to the accident, the road was closed for several hours. Fire service intervention was required for the evacuation of the wounded. Three injured individuals were taken to the hospital for examination. Their lives are not in danger.

The causes of the incident are being investigated by the police at British bases.

According to preliminary data, the 42-year-old man attempted to overtake the car in front. Due to the slippery road, the car skidded, resulting in a head-on collision with the oncoming vehicle.
